GOP Shouldn't Take The Deal

President Obama seems content to extend all the Bush tax cuts for two more years, but at what price to the GOP's credibility. Republicans had historic gains on November 2nd because the country as a whole was tired of tax and spend and an entitlement mentality that was robbing our childrens' future and plunging us into a permanent high unemployment rate that rivals Europe's socialistic Utopian debacle. Of course extending the tax cuts would be stimulative, but making them permanent would be more so. And the extension of unemployment benefits to three years without paying for them does two very un-stimulative things. It perpetuates the high unemployment rate by reducing the incentive to look for work  and adds to the expanding deficit. This is exactly what the American people were voting against this election. Also the death tax compromise to 35% above five million is not a compromise, but a huge victory for the redistribution of wealth advocates.

Did the GOP get the message from the midterms? Apparently many of them did not. Obama is in no position to demand anything, and the GOP should realize that their victory in November was a mandate to stop the vicious cycle and neuter this president and the left from damaging our economy any further. If they were to compromise on the unemployment benefit extension, they should have demanded it be payed for with un-spent stimulus money, and also reduce the extension to six months. Unemployment benefits have in effect become a welfare program with a higher yield then welfare itself.

Now Obama is in a position to take credit for reducing unemployment and bringing the economy back if in fact it does improve by 2012. He also can now blame the republicans for demanding an extension of the tax cuts to the highest earners if it doesn't and the deficit keeps rising. He can now claim bipartisanship which will do much to heal the divide with independents who were the driving force for his election. Meanwhile the GOP has done nothing to placate Tea Party Americans and grass root conservatives by making this compromise. Jim Demint, a Tea Party leader has already come out in opposition to the proposal, reminding others this is not what America voted for in November.

If the GOP would simply demand more, like a permanent extension of all the Bush tax cuts and paying for and reducing the time of unemployment benefits, Obama would be check mated. If he refused, then all the tax rates would increase in January, and the unemployed would be without benefits through the holidays and he would be blamed. The republicans could simply point to the election, and remind everyone of the message it sent. Then in January the house could pass a retroactive permanent extension of the tax cuts and allocate money from the un-spent stimulus to pay for unemployment benefit extensions. The senate would necessarily have to follow suit, especially when you consider how many democrats are up for reelection in 2012. Obama would have to sign it if he had any intention of positioning himself for reelection. If the GOP has goals of becoming a majority in both houses and winning back the White House, they should not compromise and listen to the lesson of the 2010 elections.

Travelers Revolt

The new TSA full body scans and enhanced pat downs are bordering on police state tactics, and the new congress should address this issue the moment they convene in January. One question I have that hasn't been answered yet, is why all of a sudden has the administration taken this tack? They say that the scanners are just now becoming available nation wide, but if you opt out of the scan then you're subjected to the enhanced pat downs. Why haven't they been doing the enhanced pat downs before the scanners were available if the threat is so real? Could it be that the pat downs are being used to condition the traveler to accept the voyeuristic scanners? I think so, and some in the TSA have admitted as much. The Christmas day pantie bomber tried to explode his groin almost a year ago, but they seem to just now be getting serious with these new methods. We know the scan manufacturers and investors have a huge lobbying presence in Washington. Could all this be another corrupting aspect of the federal government? Is there intelligence that raises the threat for the holidays? Or is this pay back from the administration for the Shellacking they took in the midterms? Are they trying to send a message to the traveling public, or has political correctness run a muck to the point of state sponsored voyeurism and molestation.

One thing is clear. I don't think the American people are going to allow this kind of personal embarrassment and humiliation from this administration. There will be a revolt. If you think the town hall meetings in the summer of 2009 were raucous, wait until the demonstrations begin in airports across the country. There will be chaos. America has learned through this last election cycle that they can fight back, and fight back they will. It's curious that some of the left leaning politicians and media types that went ballistic on George W. Bush for warrant less wire tapping and the Patriot Act seem fine with this. The hypocrisy is staggering. The unconstitutional elements of these procedure are much more evident. Are the Matt Lauers and others that have begun to accuse the GOP of stirring this up simply running cover for the messiah? The planned boycotts will cause delays and ultimately hurt the airline industry, but that may be what it takes to take back our traveling freedom.

Consider for a moment the disconnect this administration has with the American people. They filed a lawsuit against the state of Arizona for their new illegal immigration law. The crux of the law was to insure that if somebody was stopped for another violation the law enforcement officer could, if there was suspicion, ask the person of their immigration status. This in the administration's eyes, would lead to racial profiling and therefore is unconstitutional. Now they are requiring American citizens to not only show picture ID, but also pictures of their genitals or be sexually groped without any suspicion of wrong doing if we want to travel to Grandma's house for the holidays. They continue to say this is for our own safety. But apparently, God knows who, flooding across our southern border is not a big security threat. Their insistence on avoiding any type of profiling for airport security is taking away our constitutional rights, and not making us safer, while their false accusation  that Arizona's new law will lead to racial profiling is giving constitutional protection to illegals and would be terrorists.

They say terrorist should be given Miranda rights and civilian trials, and shouldn't be subjected to enhanced interrogation techniques. But, American citizens are now subjected to genital imagery and  enhanced pat downs which seem to me a stark violation of the fourth amendment, which protects us from unreasonable searches and seizures and requires probable cause and warrants before such searches can take place. Whom do they fear. It appears they fear the American people and consider them their enemy more than they do terrorists and illegals. That to me, screams of a Marxist, police state mentality, which seeks to control the populous through intimidation and humiliation. There's only one problem with their plan. The American people will not allow the big boot of government on our necks. That's why we are America. That's why the rest of the world still envies us. And, that's why 2012 can come none too soon.

TSA Terrorism

It seems the Transportation Safety Administration with leadership from Janet Napolitano and Homeland security has decided to terrorize the traveling public to avoid terrorism. The horror stories from those getting groped and humiliated is rising exponentially. One 21 year old student from Amarillo Texas had her breast exposed to everyone in the area when her blouse was pulled down by a TSA employee, and then was humiliated more as TSA workers laughed and joke about the incident. Many define what is happening in airports nation wide as state sponsored sexual harassment, and many feel the loss of dignity and constitutional rights is not making us safer. Some are angry enough that lawsuits are springing up every where, as well they should be. It appears to me, that the governments attempt at airline security is bordering on the absurd. The procedures reflect a liberal mindset to search for the means of terrorism rather than the terrorist. The liberals answer to gun violence has always been to ban guns, rather then aggressively go after and prosecute criminal activity.

The government seems content fighting the last war. As every Al Qaeda attempt goes down, homeland security institutes new guidelines for airport security. After 9/11 they secured the cockpits and eliminated box cutters from passengers' carry on. Fair enough. But after the shoe bomber incident, now all fliers must remove their shoes. Then after Christmas Day pantie bomber, they stepped up the full body scans and pat downs if  fliers refused the scans. What's next? If a terrorist is discovered transporting explosives in body cavities will fliers be required to strip and receive body cavity searches? Al Qaeda is not dumb, and their methods change constantly. The recent attempt to smuggle explosive into cargo from Yemen was an obvious dry run at a new technique. We seem content engaging the last technique, and are subjecting travelers to exponential humiliation and embarrassment.  When will the government drop the politically correct act and actually go after the real terrorists?

Some say if Homeland Security decides it's not necessary to frisk granny and five year old Billy, that's exactly whom Al Qaeda will use to deliver their next 9/11. Really? Is a gray haired granny who isn't Islamic ready to become a suicide bomber for the sake of Allah? Does a five year old really understand that his reward for blowing up an airliner is 72 virgins in paradise?  Is a twenty One year old white female college student likely to be carrying plastic explosives between her 34 C breasts? Let's get serious with fighting terrorism, and actually go after those presupposed to terrorism, and we all know who they are. The target group is young Muslim men and the exceptional young Muslim woman. But of course Napolitano has announced they may give Muslim women a waiver from full body scans and pat downs because of religious modesty considerations. How absurd is this? Many Muslim women have been used as suicide bombers in Iraq and Afghanistan in recent years, and Big Sis is considering giving them a pass, while they continue to grope granny and little Billy.

Is it going to take another 9/11 type disaster for the United States government to drop the PC method of terror control, and actually began to profile those that are a serious threat to our security? I believe the American people understand that almost every terrorist attack over the past decade has been perpetrated by Islamic extremist. The recent outrage at the firing of Juan Williams at PBS because he stated he has consternation when he sees Muslims boarding his aircraft in Muslim garb proves that. The people get it. White Christian grannies, five year old red headed boys, and smiling college cheerleaders are not a risk to the flying public. Terrorism is born from a perverted religious dogma, and a false sense of heavenly reward, in the hearts of disadvantaged and hopeless Muslim youths that see their actions as a cause greater then themselves. The American people are seeing their freedom eroded and their dignity lost because the United States government doesn't have the courage to call a spade a spade. If we give up all our constitutional rights and dignity to fight terrorism, the terrorists have already won.

The Great Awakening Back To Liberty

The elections of 2010 showed all the world one thing and one thing only. America is not ready to succumb to socialism and is still a center right country. No matter what the pundits say and how the administration contorts the results of the elections as being a failure of message rather than policy, it's obvious that America is not ready to ride the rails of socialism and out of control government. America woke up to the possibility of becoming another European socialist democracy with a constant high unemployment rate and an entitlement mentality that fosters public riots when reasonable leaders demand austerity and fiscal sanity. We are America for one reason and one reason only. We believe in the individual and their freedom to dictate their own success or  failure. Government was never intended to choose winners and losers, and divine providence was meant for every individual  to determine his or her fate rather than a bureaucratic pronunciation of right and wrong. Barack Obama rode the rails of discontent to the heights of the most powerful man on earth. But, 22 months in, and he is nothing more than one half of a one term president in the words of Larry Sabato. His lame duck presidency started on November 2nd and will continue through the next two years. He will be thwarted from every major agenda item he craves.

Now we will see if a rejuvenated republican party with grass roots Tea Party winners can buck the Washington hypnotics and restore this republic to what the founders intended of limited government and individual freedom. As impressive as the 2010 elections were for the conservative cause, it may be that this will take a two election correction. Even though the GOP had historic gains in the house, the senate is still questionable, and of course Mr. Obama in the executive seems destined to veto true reform and is hell bent on an agenda of larger and more intrusive government. The slide to socialism has been stopped abruptly, but the move back to the founders intend may be delayed until 2012. Gridlock may be the best we can hope for in the coming two years. It is a much more palatable meal than being force fed, while gagging, government raised fatty pork against our will . Intent will be the rule rather than the exception until 2012. If the GOP house brings up votes to repeal Obama care, and actually passes spending cuts that Mr. Obama vetoes, the stage will be set for a massive restructuring of government in the next presidential election.

One democrat victory may be a blessing in disguise. Harry Reid's victory over Sharron Angle, as unseemly as it may be, along with Nancy Pelosi's decision to fight for her leadership position will keep the three stooges, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid in the public consciousness for the next two years. What better poster children could the conservative movement hope for? They are the continued face of government growth and intrusion into every aspect of life, and should be exploited in every way possible for a complete repudiation in 2012. On the other hand the GOP should elevate some of the Tea Party victors, and demote many of the go along to get along establishment types. It's evident many of them will face well deserved primary challenges over the next two years. If the GOP leadership signals a willingness to compromise with Obama and the dems it will be their undoing, and will usher in the possibility of a viable third party with many victorious Tea Party law makers bolting. Only time will tell if the GOP bigwigs learned their lessons well over the past several years.

The next and more important question is, who will emerge as the standard bearer and presidential candidate to challenge the messiah for the reins of power. The primary process will be brutal but important to differentiate the true conservatives from the fake. They will be stepping all over themselves to signal their willingness to take a meat clever to the federal government and repeal most everything enacted in the last congress. Let's not be fooled by sudden epiphanies to fiscal discipline. Their records should be thoroughly scrutinized, and I'm sure the main stream media will oblige. The contrast to their kid glove treatment of Obama will be a series of well lubricated latex glove exams of anyone attempting to de-throne Obama, if you get my euphemism. Tea Party America will probably not go along with an establishment republican as the nominee. They want real change, and therefore the possibility of the mantle falling on a long time loyal republican will be nil, unless that candidate has been a constant and unabashed small government conservative.

Keep your eyes peeled for a Jim Demint or Sarah Palin type of candidate to emerge without it being Jim Demint or Sarah Palin. Although we shouldn't rule them out, because both are formidable and Tea Party favorites. Whoever the candidate is, they will need the endorsement of these two. Chris Christie has signaled he won't run, and I believe Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney are probably too establishment to get the blessing of grass roots Tea Party types. Haley Barbour may be under that same curse as well as Mitch Daniels. John Thune is an attractive conservative and Mike Huckabee is well liked but probably doesn't have the conservative cred to make it to the nomination. My ideal candidate is Marco Rubio, but I'm under no illusion that he would consider a run having just been elected to his first term in the senate. He more than anyone exemplifies American exceptionalism and what this country is all about, and would siphon many Hispanics from the democrat party. Then there's Mike Pence, a constant conservative, but seems to have a tendency to equivocate on occasion especially when speaking to the main stream media.

The next two years will be full of ups and downs, and who knows if maybe an unknown may emerge. If Afghanistan is stabilized within the next year you may see a war hero like David Patraeus throw in. That's doubtful, but maybe that's what America needs right now. It's anyone's guess at this point, but we know whoever emerges must have the conservative credentials and moxie to defend liberty and push back government. Is there another Ronald Reagan waiting in the wings? We the People will allow nothing less, and we can thank Barack Obama for the great awakening back to liberty.

The Day The Earth Stood Still

I remember as a kid the sci-fi movie, The Day The Earth Stood Still. There was a recent remake which didn't live up to the original as is usually the case. It was about a spaceman with a menacing robot, who comes down to earth to warn earthlings that unless they change their ways their planet will be reduced to a burning cinder. After being shot and captured by the military, he escapes and lives with a normal family trying to find a way to get his message out. The only way he can get the attention of the leaders of planet earth is to somehow stop time, and all mechanical devices to garner their attention. For the last twenty one months, the American people have done everything they can to get the attention of Barack Obama, the democrats that control congress and many in the republican party. The first attempt was voicing their displeasure for the bailouts and stimulus, along with the house passing cap and trade. Then there was the summer of 2009 town hall meetings, when angry Americans confronted seemingly deaf democrat congressional leaders about their opposition to Obama Care. The next attempt was putting conservatives in the governorships of Virginia, and bright blue New Jersey. In January even bluer Massachusetts elected a republican, Scott Brown, who promised to be the 41st vote against Obama Care, to the senate seat held by Ted Kennedy.  Nothing seemed to deter the arrogance of Washington as Obama Care was eventually brought across the goal line using trickery and deception.

Now we come up to election day 2010. The town hall attendees and Tea Party Patriots, the grass roots Americans that have been called racists, extremists,  Nazis and uneducated dolts are about ready to recreate The Day The Earth Stood Still. They are about to shock the political establishment to such an extent that even the most ardent left leaning ideologue will have to pay attention. Many left leaning pundits going into election day have tried to define this huge shift as a vote against the economy, and dissatisfaction with their own circumstances. President Obama has said that when people are scared they do irrational things. This is all condescension and political spin. They will all know exactly what it is all about on the morning of November 3rd. Many say that Obama will not move right, he is just too ideological. If that is true, he will still have to know that the American people have so rejected his agenda that if he doesn't move he'll have multiple challenges for the 2012 nomination and his defeat will be sealed.

The republican establishment will have to stand still and contemplate their future also. There will be dozens of new Tea Party lawmakers flooding the halls of congress, and how they welcome them will determine their fate in 2012. Will they try to marginalize them, or welcome their input. Will Sharron Angle, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio be given a place at the table or will they be snubbed? If they are snubbed the republican establishment will be reduced to a burning cinder. This event will change the political landscape for a generation. Politicians will have to listen. Many will retire. Nancy Pelosi will be the first. Is anyone shedding a tear? As has been the case during the past few months, democrats who've overloaded the credit card are now preaching fiscal discipline and austerity and will continue that trend if they are lucky enough to survive the tsunami. Cap and Trade will be dead. Obama Care will look like an illegal immigrant bursting through the emergency room doors for resuscitation and intravenous feeding. Speaking of illegals immigrants, many will determine that a trek across a more secure border may not be worth the risk, and those already here may return home knowing amnesty is not probable.

The irony of this event is that Barack Obama who many anointed as the savior of America or at least a resurgent democrat party has reduced them and the progressive movement to a burning cinder. He took his anointing too literally and proclaimed "My Way Or The Highway," and now he and his agenda are headed down that, yet to be refurbished with stimulus money, lonely highway. I like what I heard Sarah Palin say recently, "There is nothing wrong with America that a good election can't fix." Now let's all watch with joy how the politicos react the day after the earth stood still!

Marco Rubio Defines The Midterms

Marco Rubio's newest campaign ad, seen here, is the best I have ever seen. He encapsulates in a two minute ad exactly what this midterm election is all about. It's not about democrat and republican, Tea Party and progressives. It's about what America is and what we want it to be. It's about whether we want America to be an opportunity society or an entitlement society. It's about whether we want a larger and more intrusive government which will result in a smaller and more anemic private sector, or a smaller and less intrusive government which will result in a more vibrant and growing private sector. You can't have a large and intrusive government, and a growing and vibrant private sector. They are mutually exclusive. Take your pick. Ever increasing government means a loss of freedom through increased taxes and regulation. A smaller and less intrusive government results in an expanding and vibrant private sector with a lower unemployment rate and greater wealth creation.

Government has never created anything. They exist by confiscating hard earned tax dollars and distributing those dollars to whom they see fit. They flex their muscles through stricter regulation and oversight of all things. The private sector exist through competition for the dollars of the consuming public. Innovation is stimulated by the incentive of monetary  reward for creating a product or service that the population deems worthy. Competition is always a good thing. Competition creates character, a work ethic, and an incentive for success. Big government creates dependency and a culture of entitlement. We've all watched with horror the demonstrations in France resulting from the proposal of raising the retirement age from 60 to 62. That's exactly where we are headed if the current direction is continued.

Marco Rubio's life story describes exactly why America is exceptional. We have a president who doesn't believe in American exceptionalism. When asked one time about it, he responded that he thinks America is exceptional just like the Brits think the UK is exceptional, and the Greeks think Greece is exceptional. He missed the point, that America is the exception, not the rule, which is explained very well in the Rubio ad. As one who traveled extensively in the eighties and early nineties, everywhere I went people wanted to know about America and the vast opportunities available there. We could be headed down a road to mediocrity where government expansion threatens prosperity and opportunity. We could see our children and grand children burdened with unsustainable debt and a lower standard of living. What we need is lawmakers in Washington that get it, like Marco Rubio.

Obama's Election Year Mistakes

After less then two years in office we see a president that is making huge missteps leading into the midterm elections, that is causing many democrats excessive indigestion. Let's begin with the spring time smack down of the new Arizona immigration law. Obama thought he could energize his minority base and Hispanics in particular by playing the race card and accusing Arizona of racial profiling. He suggested that Hispanics would be harassed when they went out for ice cream. The only problem with this approach is that anywhere from 60 to 70% of the American public support the Arizona law. But of course rather then moderating his position his justice department, with an obvious wink from the anointed one, doubled down and decided to sue Arizona. Then it slipped out from senator John Kyl that Obama told him it would be more difficult to get an immigration bill if he put more effort into enforcing the border. In other words this was an admission that he was holding border security hostage to an immigration / amnesty bill. In a recent Gallop poll, his support from Hispanics is down to 55%, or 11 points lower then when he was elected. Apparently Hispanics aren't some monolithic group that blindly supports those that pander to them. In fact many Hispanics are conservative and most are pro-life, and believe in free market principles rather then government entitlements.

We watched how Obama and the democrats have decided to marginalize and smear the Tea Party, by accusing them of racism and extreme views. They exuberantly cheered Sharron Angle's primary victory in Nevada as a sure general election victory for Harry Reid. The big surprise is that Mrs. Angle is holding her own, and in the debate on Thursday looked the more competent of the two candidates, and gave no indication she was drinking crazy juice.  She raised a record 14.1 million dollars in the third quarter and is well on her way  to retiring Harry for good. Dittos for Rand Paul in Kentucky, Joe Miller in Alaska, Marco Rubio in Florida, Ken Buck in Colorado, and Ron Johnson in Wisconsin. The only possible senate Tea Party loser may be Christine O'Donnell in Delaware even though a new Rasmussen poll showed her only 11 points down with a little over two weeks to go. The Hill has an article that says likely voters in battleground districts see extremists as having a more dominant influence over the democrat party than the GOP by a 44 to 37% margin. The idea put out by democrats that the Tea Party was going to destroy the republican party has turned out to be wishful thinking. The Tea Party has energized and motivated the GOP back to it's conservative roots, and if the primaries are any indication of the general election turn out, November 2nd will be a conservative blow out. 4 million more republicans voted in the primaries than democrats.

Obama's obvious support for the ground zero mosque, even though he tried to back track, blew up in his face. This was another seventy, thirty issue with Obama and the politically correct elites on the thirty side.
It's very revealing that democrats who've always been uncomfortable with religious freedom issues now are trumpeting Islamic rights, and especially the right to built a mosque on hallowed ground. The only rational explanation for this is that they see Islamic dogma as antithetical to all things American, and therefore they want to side with it even though it literally tortures, or should I say stones, the idea of female emancipation. I guess they think my enemies enemy, is my friend. They do consider America as an enemy, and that's why they're doing everything they can to destroy it.

Finally we come to the messiahs latest attempt to turn the tide against republican momentum. He now is accusing many conservative groups and the Chamber of Commerce of taking and using foreign money to run anti democrat ads leading up to November 2nd. A scurrilous accusation like this is usually left to political hacks and party apparatchiks, but Obama himself decided to get the ball rolling himself by accusing Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie of using foreign money to influence the election. Of course they don't have one scintilla of evidence that American Crossroads GPS or the Chamber are using foreign donations. But, as Robert Gibbs said when questioned about that, "let them prove that they aren't using foreign money." Well president Obama, When did you stop beating your wife? All this in an attempt to shame the Chamber and the Rove groups of revealing their donors. Of course they won't, and they aren't require by law to disclose their donors, and they know if they did, the SEIU, and other union thugs, along with Moveon.org and other liberal groups would camp out and harass and intimidate those donors at their corporate headquarters and private homes. Finally the republican party is catching up to the union, and George Soros type groups that have run hundreds of millions of dollars of ads against conservative candidates. We can all thank the recent supreme court decision, "citizens united," for that. Karl Rove is now sending out thank you notes to the president for the 13 million dollars his group collected in just 6 days since Obama first brought up these accusations. Once again Obama has stepped in it, and given conservatives more fire power to attack his freedom destroying policies. Maybe Mr. Obama should just hide for the next couple weeks, before he gives the GOP an even more historic victory. It's curious to know that he's scheduled much of the post election days out of the country. Could it be he already knows how bad it is going to be for him and his agenda.

Obama The Millstone

The democrats are trying to put the best face possible on the upcoming midterms, but with Halloween just around the corner, it's simply a clown mask hiding their fear. They know that the house is lost, and lost significantly, and with recent trends in the senate races their majority  is slipping through their fingers in the upper chamber also.  Races that weren't suppose to be close, such as West Virginia are moving decidedly against them. The popular governor of West Virginia who was supposed to be a shoe in for the senate is now down by 5 points to businessman John Raese. It seems the idea of someone going to Washington that may support the Obama agenda, even though he's popular in statewide politics is persona non grata to the people of West Virginia. We are beginning to see the Obama millstone pulling democrats under water and and causing them to gasp for air

Russ Feingold is now down by double digits to businessman Ron Johnson in Wisconsin. Feingold has always been popular in the Badger state, but not in this cycle. He has faithfully supported the Obama change, which isn't what the people voted for, and now is paying the price in a state that recently has been trending left. That is until now. The RCP averages are changing daily. The toss up states are shrinking while the leaning and likely republican states are growing. And states that were likely democrat are moving to leaning democrat like New York, and Connecticut. The only positive for democrats is the Barbara Boxer race in California that has moved from toss up to leaning democrat. Of course California has been reliably positive for Obama. Is it any wonder that their state is on the verge of economic collapse?

It seems the democrats have concluded they can't run on Obama Care, the stimulus, cap and trade or financial reform, so we're seeing them attack personally with smear and negative attack ads. I spent four days recently in Vegas, and Harry Reid continues to pound Sharron Angle as extreme and dangerous. He's running about three times the ads she is, but a recent Fox poll shows her with a three point lead. My conclusion is that this race is over and Harry is gone. With all he's spent, he still can't get above 50% and her support is solidifying. That same Fox poll shows that those Angle supports still willing to change their vote has dropped from 10% to 4% since the last polling cycle. And we all know the undecided voters usually break for the challenger at the end of a campaign.

The new Gallup poll that sampled only likely voters shows the GOP with a 13 point lead in the generic ballot. That is huge! But, when you consider that the democrats hold such a huge majority and the anti incumbent mood is as significant as it is that 13% may be an understatement. Most democrats under fire have been Obama agenda sycophants, and the only democrats running on Obama care and the stimulus are those that voted against them. What a difference 20 months makes. We all remember the democrat congress euphoric on inauguration day with the anointing of their savior Barack Obama. They now controlled the executive, and both houses of congress with huge majorities. They fell in line behind the pied piper of partisan politics. They took their so-called mandate and over reached. The rammed everything they possible could down the throats of a gagging electorate, with parliamentary maneuvers and bribes. Now their savior has turned into a millstone. Even Houdini would be hard pressed to escape from the chains of the weight that they voluntarily attached to themselves. The pendulum is swinging way back, and the American people deserve praise for due diligence in reversing the trend to servitude and economic collapse. November 3rd will be remembered as the day the bodies of democrats were seen scattering the ocean floor, drowned by the millstone named Barack Obama.

Tea Party Vs. Republican Establishment

Does anyone remember how when the Tea Party really took root last summer, many were theorizing that this movement would hurt the republican party? If they didn't get their way they'd possibly launch third party candidates. They'd split the conservative vote, and insure democrat victories. What a difference a year makes. Now we're seeing the establishment republicans hurting the GOP chances in November.  First we have Charlie Crist in Florida deciding because he couldn't win a republican primary against Tea Party favorite Marco Rubio, he'd run as an independent. The only problem with this strategy is that he's now splitting the liberal vote between himself and the democrat nominee, Kendrick Meeks. Rubio is pulling away and rightfully labels Crist an opportunist.

Now you have Lisa Murkowski in Alaska deciding she'll run a write in campaign to preserve her senate seat, and will do nothing but hurt Joe Miller, the Tea Party candidate's,  chance of defeating his democrat opponent. She says Alaskans are begging her to do this because they can't accept the extremist views of Joe Miller. She touted her, bringing home the bacon credentials in her primary battle against Miller. Apparently with the federal deficits ballooning to frightening excesses, republicans in Alaska decided they wanted some fiscal and constitutional limits put on the federal government. Apparently the crippling debt is not extremist, but constitutional limits are. In reality she's trying to cling to power like Charlie Crist and hurting the GOP and their chances of retaking the senate are secondary to her hold on power.

And then of course there's the new media sensation Christine O'Donnell being vilified by establishment republicans like Carl Rove, who again Sunday continued to point out Christine's flaws on Fox News Sunday. One has to wonder if because Rove initially trashed her, he's now doubling down to preserve an, "I told you so," moment. He seems more concerned about defending his reputation as a political guru than doing what he can to help the much maligned and vilified O'Donnell. Mike Castle has yet to endorse O'Donnell, even though he was beaten easily by a six point margin. Rove seems obsessed with the fact O'Donnell has had financial problems, which says he doesn't have any real connection to everyday Americans as it is evident she does. During her speech at the Values Voters Summit over the weekend she had an excellent line. In talking about the Washington bureaucrats weaseling their way into our private lives, she said, "They'll buy your teenage daughter an abortion, but they won't let her buy a sugary soda in the school vending machine." An apt disconnect that the Washington elites have with real America.

It's evident it's the establishment republicans that are whining and threatening to take their toys and go home if their power is threatened. Seems that a gaping character flaw is being exposed in some republicans, who see their influence waning, and the very real prospect they've over stayed their welcome. The Tea Party seems to not only be a threat to democrats, but also republicans who like the status quo. Remember they said that Rand Paul couldn't win, but he's leading substantially. Marco Rubio was not ready for prime time, but look at him now. Ron Johnson is leading Russ Feingold in Wisconsin, and Joe Miller will beat back Murkowski's arrogant and selfish attempt to hold power. And then of course there's Sharron Angle, who all the establishment republicans said was the only candidate Harry Reid could beat. She's running neck and neck with him, and the undecideds always break for the challenger. And of course let's not forget, according to Maureen Dowd, the "Palin mini me," Christine O'Donnell, that was 15 points down one week before the primary and stilled pulled it out.

Today,s news was that the Tea Party Patriots received a one million dollar check from an anonymous donor to be spent across the country. It seems the Tea Party is starting to take root, and their de-centralized leadership is having a profound impact around the country. Their enthusiasm is far superior to the union groups. Liberals are demoralized and conservative ascendancy is  a foregone conclusion for the midterms. Now let's make sure the republican poor losers, have a change of heart and support the nominees of the party. If they continue as they are they will be insignificant and bitter relics. The great thing about our form of government is that the people will eventually rule. Let's remember that 4 million more republicans voted in the primaries than democrats did. That was due to the Tea Party movement. The establishment should be welcoming that enthusiasm.  Now let's rally the troops for an enormous victory on November second.

The GOP Should Ask The Question Reagan Asked!

The GOP should take a tip from the Gipper for a strategy for the midterm elections with just a couple tweaks. Remember Reagan during the 1980 presidential campaign asked if you were better off today than you were four years ago. The answer to that question was an easy "no," with inflation at double digits and interest rates at historic highs. There was an oil embargo and gas shortages that Carter made worse with price controls, and the economy was as irritable as a spastic colon. The GOP should ask the question, is the country better off today then it was in January 2007 when the democrats took over congress and the public purse strings. A quick look as the national debt would clearly make that answer another resounding "no." January 3rd 2007 the complete national debt was exactly $8.67 trillion.  That debt was accumulated in 231 years of our nation. Today as of the 14th of September, 2010, that debt is now $13.44 trillion. If my math is correct that is an increase of $4.77 trillion. That increase was accumulated in a little over 3 years and 8 months.Let's think about that. It took 231 years to accumulate a debt of $8.67 trillion, and in less than four years that debt has increased by $4.77 trillion. That's an increase of 55%.

These figures are incredible and frightening, and during the last nineteen months since Barack Obama was sworn in as our 44th president, 2.8 trillion of that 4.7 trillion has been charged to our kids' credit cards. You'd think with that amount of spending every American would be living on easy street, but that is not the case. Government has grown into an insatiable devouring monstrosity, pigging out on our childrens' future and standard of living, while the private sector has been forced into frugality and belt tightening, with the prospect of huge tax increases. Millions of Americans are out of work or underemployed while government hiring and wages continue their upward ascent. A recent USA Today article shows that federal compensation is now more than double their private sector counterparts. Federal workers have been awarded bigger wages and benefit increases than private sector workers for nine years in a row. What is wrong with this picture?

It appears that the ruling elites have decided that they're the rightful owners of American wealth even though they've done nothing to accumulate it. They reward their allies and bureaucrats while the private sector pays the piper. They use class warfare and divisive rhetoric pitting Americans against each other, while promising entitlements that they assume will attract enough hangers on to insure their continued power. They lecture the private sector about avarice and excesses while they sip Vodka Martini's and snack on $100 a lb Japanese imported steak as appetizers at White House parties while they're serenaded by the likes of Paul McCartney, Kelly Clarkston, and Stevie Wonder. All the while patting themselves on the back for redistributing the nations wealth from the producers to the unproductive after they've skimmed excessively off the top.

Once again the question needs to be asked are you better off today then you were four years ago when the democrats regained the power of the purse strings? If you're part of the political class, the ruling elite, or a government bureaucrat the answer is an easy yes. If you're a hard working patriot, or small business owner, your answer is a resounding no. If the GOP were smart they'd win this one for the Gipper, or at least ask the same questions the Gipper did. It seems the GOP has an even greater problem than what questions to ask, now that true conservatives are once again gaining ascendancy in the party. Christine O'Donnell's primary victory over Mike Castle in the Delaware primary Tuesday shows that the conservative movement won't settle for a compromising, go along to get along, republican party any longer. Now it appears the republican senatorial committee has announced it won't get behind O'Donnell in the general election. It may take several election cycles to purge even the republican party of their ruling elites that see their rapidly eroding power slipping through their fingers.

The Democrats Have Painted Themselves Into A Corner

Demagoguery will get you only so far, and the democrats are discovering  that limit with the debate on the soon to expire Bush Tax cuts. They have railed against them for years. They have characterized them as tax cuts for the wealthy. They say Bush rewarded the top two percent of taxpayers, and this was the cause of the deficit. Obama recently said, "it took eight years to get us into this mess," therefore asking for patience for him to get us out. This has to be a reference to Bush's tax cuts, because in reality that was George W. Bush's answer to the recession that he inherited and the crux of his economic policy. He can't be referring to Bush's deficit spending, because he has quadrupled it. The democrats can't really blame him for allowing Wall Street to run a muck and the sub prime mortgage mess, because it was democrats, particularly Chris Dodd and Barney Frank that strong armed  Freddie and Fannie as well as other lenders to lend recklessly. They talk about the cost of the Iraq war, but over 7 years of combat operation in Iraq the price tag is still under what they spent in one fell swoop with the failed stimulus package.

Tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans has been their refrain. Now they're considering extending tax cuts for those that make under 250 thousand a year. Whoops, is that an admission that the Bush tax cuts were across the board, and they did benefit the middle class? Doesn't the fact that they're even entertaining the idea of extending some, validate the position that tax cuts, not government spending, stimulates the economy? They know as well as anybody that the high income earners are the ones that run small businesses and are responsible for around 80% of all new hires. But, how can they now vote to extend them all when they have non-stop demonized them, as a give away to the wealthy, and have continued to blame Bush for the current state of the economy. The color used to paint themselves into this corner is bright red, and much as been spilled on their now red faces. They are stuck living their long developed demagoguery. How can they extend them for the high income earners when their refrain has been non stop? Some democrats, such as Ben Nelson, and Evan Bayh now favor extending them across the board to stop the economy from double dipping. But, any more defections would undermine their blame Bush strategy going into the midterm.

They're trying to redefine this election from a referendum on them to a choice between the policies of the past that in Obama's words, "drove us into a ditch," and the rapidly discredited Keynesian economic policies that they have porked out on. They know that the economy and jobs is the number one issue on voters minds, with burgeoning deficits and federal spending a close second. They see raising taxes on the wealthy as a way to frame the problem of deficits, and put the GOP on the defensive, but the catch 22 is that tax increases will slow economic growth, and is a losing campaign issue. Remember Obama recently telling the GOP he was going to call their bluff on deficit reduction, and we all know that was code for tax increases. But, of course they won't touch the subject until after November 2nd, even though many democrats are nervous and are considering an about face on the Bush tax cuts.

The problem with the soak the rich strategy is that it doesn't work to increase revenue to the federal government. Arthur Laffers excellent August 2 column in the Wall Street Journal called, "The Soak-The-Rich Catch 22," shows statistically that when taxes are increased on the highest wage earner it actually reduces the percentage of taxes paid by them. Conversely he says, "during the era of ubiquitous tax cuts, income tax receipts for the top 1% of wage earners rose to 3.3% of GDP in 2007, {the last year for which we have data,} from 1.5% of GDP in 1978. Income tax receipts from the bottom 95% of income earners fell to 3.2% of GDP From 5.4% of GDP over the same time period."You can read that column by clicking here. The reason they pay less when taxes are raised is because the rich watch tax policy and have the means to move money to avoid taxes. We all remember John Kerry's yacht story, where he tried to avoid Massachusetts taxes by mooring his yacht in a lower taxed state. The rich do this because they can, and who would blame them? Of course we can point the finger at the hypocrisy of a John Kerry who supports higher taxes as long as he's not paying them.

So where do we stand? The democrats have demonized  the Bush tax cuts for years. They can't extent them for even the middle class without an admission that they were across the board, which they were.  They can't extend them for the wealthiest Americans even though that would bring some certainty to small business owners and increase employment, because they would have to admit it is stimulative and eat crow for their class warfare rhetoric. They are going into the elections with a slowing economy and nothing they can do to change the dynamic without looking like hypocrites and demagogues, which of course they are. What a pleasure to watch them squirm in their painted in corner. Should their October surprise be an announcement to extend all the Bush tax cuts for the good of the economy and therefore admit they're returning to the failed policies of the past they've so vigorously demonized? We can only hope for the good of the country, but let's not hold our breathe.

Why The Left Wants The Mosque Built

It's instructive to everyone that the left has suddenly gotten religion. Yup, the far left has had an epiphany. The scales have fallen from their eyes, and Hallelujah, Glory To God, let's build a mosque.. Just like so many issues these days it all comes down to left versus right, the political class versus middle American sensibilities.  But, it's peculiar that the left that has made eradicating any form of religious expression their number one tenet of faith, now believes that freedom of religion should be their new equal rights amendment. That is of course until a high school valedictorian wants to include scriptures in his graduation address, or use school property for an after school prayer group. Maybe their new found faith is only applicable when the faith they're defending not only threatens the traditions and spirit of America, but this particular Imam they support wants to build a victory mosque on the sight of America's worst terrorist attack and jab a stick in the collective eye of all Americans.

It's curious that the left whom have defended women's rights religiously over the decades, and abhors  paternalism, now defends Islam, that is beyond paternalistic but abusive toward the feminine mystic. Subjugation of women is now permitted, as long as the perpetrators have the same anti-American sentiment that they do. In other words, as long as they are America's enemy they are the left's friends. But you say, not all Muslims hate America. True, but Islam at it's core is antithetical to all things American.  Thus the overwhelming support from the left was inevitable.  Besides that, the left doesn't fault the radicals from within Islam for their murderous 9/11 attack. They fault America, and it's abhorrent foreign policy mistakes that they say have turned the Muslim world against us. Never mind that we've freed millions in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan from tyrannical dictatorships. The left does not abhor tyranny, in fact they embrace it as evidenced by the current regime in Washington pushing an anti freedom agenda that will fundamentally transform America into a socialistic utopia. They want to crown government as god, and empower the political class to rule with impunity.

It's not all that complicated. The left wants to reward the Islamic radicals that conspired and carried out the worst terrorist attack in American history, because they believe like Imam Rauf, that we were accessories to the crime. We deserved what we got, and now Islam has every right to build their victory mosque on the graves of innocent, or as the left believes, "guilty and greedy capitalist" Americans.  It's not about religious tolerance that motivates the left, because they're defending the most intolerant of all religions. It's always about anti American ideology, and he who sticks it to America will have the left sticking up for them. Now it's up to the rest of us, to answer the call and stand up for America and it's traditions and values.

The Appeasement Continues

President Obama's statement last Friday night to a group of Muslim leaders celebrating the start of Ramadan, about the ground zero Mosque continues the narrative of appeasement. Americans are tired of being lectured by this president on racial and now religious issues. The president failed to mention that the Greek Orthodox church that was destroyed when the towers fell has not been given permission to rebuild near ground zero. This is not about religious tolerance for this president, it is about appeasing the Muslim world in hopes that the radicals within their ranks will drop the sword from their hand. The idea that he would lecture Americans in front of a group of Muslim leaders about religious tolerance is incomprehensible. I feel confident in saying that among all major religions world wide, Islam is the least tolerant of them all. Their subjugation of women as well as their intolerance of religious diversity within the Muslim world should target them to be lectured to by an American president. But, I suppose you first need a president who believes in American values..

Our leaders have continued to espouse that we aren't at war with Islam. That very well may be true, but Islam is at war with American values and traditions. I'm not just talking about Islamic radicals, commonly known as terrorists, except by this president. But, Islam itself is add odds with us. Their belief system is antithetical to the values of our country and our constitution. There are moderate Muslims that don't follow sharia law, but they could be likened to Catholics that practice birth control, or Jews that don't follow strict kosher diets. They are actually the less sincere members of Islam. Many have been westernized and backslid in their Islamic dogma, and that could be why many Islamic radicals are targeting western civilization. They don't like the corrupting effect of western values on their intolerant religious beliefs. We have seen the videos of Taliban leaders caning women in the streets because their vale slipped and their face was revealed. We've heard of the stoning of women for adultery, while the male perpetrator is blameless. The Imam that is pushing for the building of this Mosque believes America should be Sharia compliant. Where is the outrage? Where is the left standing up for the rights of women and minorities? I can understand not wanting to alienate one billion Muslims worldwide, but at what price to the values and sensitivity of the American people.

Health care reform, the illegal immigration debate, terrorist rials in New York City, bailout mania, and now this ground zero mosque debate. We have elected a president that governs against the will of a large majority of Americans, and doesn't understand American values and sensitivities. Remember he chastised those that cling to their guns and religion during the campaign, but now comes out in support of religious tolerance for an intolerant religion that was at the root of America's worst domestic attack. It's time the American people push back on an administration that appeases enemies and chastises American sensibility. No one I know believes in religious intolerance, but religious tolerance doesn't give a radical Imam the right to built a mosque on hallowed ground against the sensitivity of most Americans. Is it any wonder a recent poll suggests that Americans are unsure and confused about this presidents religious beliefs? November can come none too soon.

Bush Bashing Will Backfire

President Obama and the democrats in congress in desperation have decided to go back to their default position of "Bush Bashing" for a midterm campaign strategy. They obviously can't run on their record for the last year and a half, so their intention is to interject the memory of George Bush into the discussion. The problem with this strategy is apparent to any thinking individual. Yes, George Bush was president when the recession started and credit markets were frozen, but the democrats had taken control of congress in January 2007. They immediately unleashed a spending spree that would dizzy any shopaholic. The recent video of Barney Frank from 2005, shows how he and other democrats kept pushing for home ownership through sub-prime mortgages in the midst of the housing bubble, while many  republicans were sounding the alarm. President Obama himself voted for every new spending bill that was before the senate. Bush was not without fault as he was hesitant to use his veto pen.

But the real mistake the democrats are making here is to remind all, that the Bush tax cuts, which were popular and helpful to a growing economy until late 2007, are under attack by only democrats. It is a reminder that  maybe George Bush was a president that liked to spend, but the democrat party is the party of Tax and Spend more. It is a reminder that whether they let all the tax cuts expire, or just those effecting individuals making $250,000 a year, they are and will be the impetus for less investment in private sector growth. The republicans should not take the, oh so clever bait, that Obama is dragging behind his sorry fishing vessel, looking for a foil to keep his butt on Air Force One in 2012. His admonishment that he will call their bluff when it comes to deficit reduction is simply code for, Are you going to get serious and come on board with tax increases or are you going to continue to give tax breaks to the rich?

The republicans on the other hand should use this Bush Bashing strategy to their advantage by reminding all that tax cuts over time create greater revenues as growth accelerates. They should continue their assault on the democrats for their intention of siphoning trillions more from the private sector through increased taxes and continued borrowing. As of now, I've only heard republicans say it is a bad idea to raise taxes in a recession. The implication is that it's OK when we aren't in a recession. Oh, how conservatives long for a new Ronald Reagan that won't fall into the progressive's trap of compromising solid economic positions. Tax hikes are never a good idea, and should always be opposed by thinking individuals. Starve the beast {government,} through tax cuts, and he must shrink. The democrats strategy is, Grow the beast, and then he must be fed through higher taxes. The GOP, if they are smart, can turn this into a tax and spend issue that resonates with voters.

They Still Don't Get It!

After watching one of the Sunday shows this morning, I've come to the conclusion that the media and leaders in Washington  still don't have a clue as to what the American people are screaming at the top of their lungs. "Stop the taxing and spending." David Gregory continued to push John Boehner and Mike Pence on how they could be for deficit reduction when they supported continuing the Bush tax cuts without having them paid for. I was literally screaming at the TV for one of the two republicans to simple say, "it's not Washington's money." Mike Pence finally got around to saying something to that effect but not in a way that drives the issue home. The narrative has been so corrupted that everyone thinks that Washington DC is the origin of all things. That if tax cuts are discussed, or just the continuation of existing cuts, we must find a way to pay for them. Why don't conservatives re frame the issue? The money belongs to the people, and they've decided they don't want Washington to take as much anymore. If that's a problem for Washington then they know what they can do. Stop the spending! Cut the budget! Stop the bailouts!

I've come to the conclusion that the republicans don't have a voice to challenge what the democrats in congress are doing. They seem to tepidly agree that spending must be cut, and taxes not raised. But, no one is shouting from the rooftops that the current direction of the country threatens our very economic existence. They talk about freezing spending. Freezing? How about taking a machete to the federal budgets. They talk about stopping excessive federal hiring. Stop federal hiring? How about firing about 25% of federal workers who make on average 30k more than the private sector. Even the republicans in congress don't understand the grass roots anger that Americans are feeling. It may be time to run them all out of town.

Americans watch as Michelle Obama takes a luxury trip to Spain with her daughter and forty of her closest friends. Staying in the finest hotels and costing the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars for security, as they close down beaches to take a swim. We watch the president with endless vacations and golf outings, while continuing the White House ritual of party after party, and concert after concert. Tone deaf decisions that don't go unnoticed by an ever increasingly angry electorate. They serve $100 a pound imported beef from Japan as appetizers while they listen to Sir Paul McCartney or Stevey Wonder, all the time chastising the American people for excesses, and sermonizing that there has to be shared sacrifice. And the media continues protecting and massaging the narrative of an ever increasing federal government, to insure their continued access to the Washington power brokers.

This modern uprising and revolution against the political class will continue through the new media, and the blogisphere. We can no longer trust the old media, as their alliances are too well known. We talk about Washington politicians being too insulated in their little fiefdoms, but how about the Washington and New York media? They are even more insulated from the reality of real America. A permanent solution to ridding the country of the excesses of our political class can only be accomplished when the new media has bankrupted the old media. The old media is part of the political class and have surrendered their watchdog status for a seat at the table. Their excessive salaries don't seem to be a problem for the presidential appointed "pay czar."

The anger is at a boiling point, and when November arrives the political class will be shocked, and the media chastised. How will they spin the will of the people? The spin will make us dizzy. Republicans better find their voice soon or they also will become an endangered species. Right now all they have going for them is the lessor of two evils.

Lack Of Cojones

Sarah Palin's appearance on Fox News Sunday has seemed to start a firestorm of conversation about Obama's manhood, or should I say lack thereof. Sarah said that Jan Brewer has the cojones that our president lacks for not enforcing immigration laws. Leave it to Sarah for putting it in blunt and illustrative terms. We could only wish that republican members of congress were as courageous and out spoken as she. When it comes to challenging this president the ones stepping up to the plate and taking their swings all seem to be women. Sarah Palin, Jan Brewer, and Michele Bachmann have, just to name a few. Where are the GOP men that are willing to say what needs to be said? All this comes the weekend after the anointed one decided to show up and laugh and joke with the testosterone vacant women of The View, and their audience. Could anyone imagine Ronald Reagan sitting in a room like that, laughing it up with the likes of Joy Behar. Remember he stood up in a news conference and called the Soviet Union an "Evil Empire." He went to Berlin and told Gorbechev, "tear down this wall." Well, the rest is history.

Come to think of it, Obama's policies are estrogen driven. Don't be mean to terrorists, or call them names you might make them mad. Don't protect the borders or someone might think you're anti Hispanic. Remove our commitment to missile defense in Eastern Europe, you might anger Russia. Sit down and negotiate with Ahmajinedad. How many of you men won't let your wifes take the car in to be serviced for fear of unnecessary repairs and an enormous hit to your wallet. My point exactly. We love our women because they can sometimes be naive, too trusting and are full of empathy. Woops there's another Obama trait. We need supreme court justices with empathy, ala Sonya Sotomayer. Hmm. I think Sarah Palin is on to something. Can we trust the leadership and defense of our country to someone you wouldn't trust to take your car in to be serviced? I doubt Obama will grow a pair, I just wish the GOP men would, and not leave the obvious to Sarah Palin, Jan Brewer, and Michele Bachmann, the Maggie Thatchers of our generation.

The Wrong Side Of Good

I sometimes wonder how it feels to be a progressive democrat and aligned with those that seem to always be on the wrong side of common sense, fiscal responsibility, individual liberty, and moral good. The Declaration of Independence states that, "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Most democrats and especially the progressive leaders in congress seem to have turned this most elegant declaration on it's head.

Life! Is it not the democrat party that increasingly pushes for the most liberal and morally repugnant abortion laws? Most go so far as to support the infanticide type procedure called partial birth abortions. Once Barbara Boxer was asked, "exactly when does a child receive rights?" her answer was, "when they leave the hospital." They continue to support unabated abortion rights even though  an overwhelming majority support some restrictions.

They have decided to enact a new health care entitlement on the backs of seniors by cutting half a trillion dollars from medicare, which inevitably will reduce services and put many seniors at risk. Yes there will be rationing and Sarah was right that someone must decide who does and who doesn't receive life saving measures. Whether you're a fan of medicare or not, is the huge reduction to fund a new health care entitlement the proper moral choice? Obama himself said, During the health care debate, that at some point "maybe you would be better off not having the surgery, but taking the pain killer," in response to a question from an attendee about her elderly mother. The most vulnerable are at risk from the democrat majorities in congress. Seniors and the unborn or partially born are at the greatest risk.

Liberty!  No one can argue the point that when government grows personal liberty shrinks. Government expansion inevitably leads to higher taxes, greater regulations, and intrusion into the personal lives of individuals. When congress passes two thousand page bills that no one has read, the devil usually comes out in the details, and the devil is always against personal liberty. Even those that benefit from entitlement programs lose freedom to determine their own destiny and become slaves to government largess. As this democrat congress has expanded the federal government, sucking trillions out of the private sector, we have seen government employment and wages skyrocket, while private sector jobs stagnate and wages contract.

The political class celebrates as their sphere of influence grows while the private sector mourns as their influence shrinks. At the start of the recession only one transportation employee made a salary of $170,000 or more. Eighteen months later 1,690 transportation employees had salaries of $170,000 or more. The growth in federal pay has pushed the average federal workers salary to $71,206 while the average private sector workers earns $41,331.   Almost 40 cents of every dollar the government spends right now is borrowed money. That money will eventually have to be paid on the backs of our children and grand children, limiting their freedom even more severely.

Pursuit of Happiness! As the democrats in congress are continuing to push us further into an entitlement society and away from an opportunity society we see the effect on entrepreneurs and personal incentive. As unemployment benefits hit the two year mark, where is the incentive to find employment or start your own business? Nancy Pelosi believes unemployment benefits are the greatest stimulus to our economy and the fastest way to create jobs. Has anyone ever brought up the point that the money siphoned from the private sector to fund that unemployment check is de-stimulative to the Americans funding the federal government. I suppose it would be more accurate to say 60% is de-stimulative seeing that 40% is borrowed. Of course that 40% plus the interest will be de-stimulative to our children. Recent polls show that more Americans feel their children's standard of living will fall short of theirs, and the American dream is slowly vanishing. Through my travels in the eighties and early nineties, every where I went people saw America as their dream destination, where opportunities abound. Now we are becoming, because of a power hungry democrat majority, the rule rather than the exception. American exceptionalism according to Barack Obama is no different than Greek exceptionalism or British exceptionalism. Most Americans disagree. Their is an obvious tension between this administration and the business community, as this administration continues to demonize wealth creation and impose onerous regulations that centralize power in Washington.

Last and most insidious is this administration and the progressives attempt to divide Americans according to class, culture, and race. Class warfare has always been in vogue with democrats as they have always pummeled the wealthy as greedy and living at the expense of the quote, "working class Americans." The wealth of the country must be returned to the rightful owners, according to them. That is code for redistribution, and big payoffs to their union buddies through Obama care and financial reform.

Culturally they are dividing by academic and social arrogance. They belittle the common sense approach to problem solving as simplistic, while their nuanced and complex answers are touted as brilliant and imaginative, but in reality are based on theory. The administration is built entirely on academics that have no idea how to create a real job, or meet a pay-role, or solve a pressing problem. Obama's denunciation of middle America as clinging to their guns and religion is another such example of their elitism.

Their race baiting is the most insidious of all. They accuse those that want immigration laws enforced, and tea party activists, or anyone that opposes Obama's policies as racists. In reality they are the racists. They have for decades cajoled the African American community into voting for them at the promise of special legislation that quote, "will level the playing field." In reality  they have shown their racism through affirmative action and quota programs, announcing to the world that African Americans can't make it without the help of the federal government. That soft bigotry of low expectations has doomed that community to a plantation mentality of looking to government for handouts or special circumstances. The same with the Hispanic community. They portray them as poor Latinos just looking for opportunities so they must be given a pass on breaking our immigration laws.

Once again special treatment reveals their racist tendencies. Laws should never discriminate according to race and national origin. The conservatives I know do not consider race as a prerequisite for employment or anything else for that matter. Not so with the democrat party. They have abandoned Martin Luther Kings admonition, "that we should judge a man on the content of their character not on the color of their skin." It's time that we reveal the democrat party and progressives in particular for what they are. They're antithetical to the declaration of independents and divisive on almost every issue trying to divide and conquer to bring power to themselves.

An Extra-Ordinary Candidate.

I was invited last night to the house of Paul and Leanne Akers... If you've never heard of Paul Akers, he's a self made man with an extremely successful business that he started with his wife in their garage. He is running for the US senate in the state of Washington against the incumbent Patty Murray. He faces a tough primary challenge against Eastern Washington Farmer and ex football player Clint Didier, and the republican establishment candidate Dino Rossi. I first came to hear about Paul from his weekly radio program here locally called "The American Innovator." Paul's successful business started when he invented a small adhesive cap, called "Fast Cap" to apply over screw holes in cabinets. He was at that point a cabinet maker, master craftsman, builder of guitars, fine furniture, and homes. His company Fast Cap is an international product development company specializing in woodworking products. He also takes the ideas of others and helps them take their invention from the napkin to the store shelf. He is a proven leader that has actually created real jobs not imaginary ones.

I met Paul a week earlier at a Tea Party candidates forum and was impressed beyond belief. His no nonsense answers to audience questions showed his fiscal discipline and common sense conservatism this country is lacking. When my wife and I arrived early to the gathering at his house he met us in the yard and welcomed us into his home. As others arrived he gave us a short tour and history of his beautiful home and then invited all to walk around and explore the house themselves. As my wife and I were walking down one hall he came over to explain how the house was designed to allow natural light and as he passed by his bedroom he opened the door and said go ahead and walk in and look around as he walked away. My wife and I stared at each other with our jaws dropped and couldn't believe that this man whom we'd just met was opening his home in such a personal way. I joked with him later that an invitation like that might encourage some to open closets and look for skeletons. His response was I'm not perfect and I don't care, you can open my closets. How refreshing to find a man, not a politician, who is as unguarded and open as Paul Akers. He walked around the meet and greet interacting with everyone and answering their questions. I mentioned that my sons would love to see the house and he said bring them up anytime, someone is usually here.

My wife was skeptical that this may be a fund raising event, but during the discussion period he said you can give me  $10,000,  but you'd help me more by making an effort to tell two other people daily about my candidacy and encourage them to check me out. My wife was immediately sold, and understood this is not your typical politician. Paul Akers has become successful because he believes in the genius of the American people. The American people are what makes this country great, not the intrusion of a power hungry government. Sometimes people are so ordinary that their common sense solutions to problem solving make them extra-ordinary. Paul Akers is one such man. After spending ten minutes with him you feel like you've known him forever. He puts you at ease and you believe you can make a difference. Absent is the arrogant elitism we see in Washington today. Absent is the "I know best what's best for you" narrative that is rampant in the typical politician. Absent is the guarded and carefully chosen words that implies an effort to skirt both sides of an issue. I encourage all Washington residents to get involved with the Paul Akers campaign. I encourage all Americans nation wide if you can't give your time, send your money....Elect an Innovator, not a politician!..check out Paul Akers website..

Polls Show The Dems In Deep Do Do

The political climate for the democrat party continues to deteriorate at an alarming rate. They can all celebrate the certainty of  global warming, except that it is their seat in congress that is starting to blister their somewhat sorry back ends and not global temperatures. It's true the mercury has been rising over the past several weeks in D.C.  but the real rise is the scorching the democrats are taking in public opinion and reelection polls. We all remember how they insisted that once health care was passed and signed into law the public's perception would change. But, the most recent Rasmussen poll that came out on 7/11 showed that 53% still oppose Obama Care while only 42% approve. Shortly after passage of the bill the Rasmussen poll showed 54% opposed and 42% approved of Obama Care. Not much of a positive trend for the democrats.

A recent Gallop poll showed that by  50% to 33%,  Americans have a negative response to the federal government suing Arizona over their new immigration enforcement law. And a much larger percentage of Americans support the law and what Arizona is trying to do. This president continues to pursue this as a wedge issue to try and energize Hispanics and pro amnesty Americans to mitigate their losses in November. The strategy seems to be backfiring as more Americans understand this is a cynical attempt to hold border security hostage for an amnesty bill that most Americans reject. Democrat governors recently warned that the feds suit against Arizona is toxic, and could hurt democrats this fall. The DOJ's {department of Justice} decision to drop the New Black Panther voter intimidation case has had disastrous and immediate push back. Black  congressional candidate Allen West running in Florida's 22nd district is condemning Obama for exploiting race for political gain.

The house
The recent polls here don't look good for democrats. The RCP house map shows that if the election were held today that the democrats would win 200 seats and the republicans would win 200 seats and there are 35 toss up seats. There are 165 safe GOP seats and 150 safe democrat seats. There are 105 democrat seats up for grabs. Of that 105, 47 are likely or lean democrat, 34 are toss ups and 24 are likely or lean GOP. Now here is the terrible news for democrats. There are really only 15 GOP seats up for grabs, and of those 15, 11 are likely or lean GOP. Therefore there are only 4 possible pickups for democrats while there are 58 possible pickups for the republicans as of right now. The mood of the country is trending away from the democrats. Robert Gibbs, the presidents press secretary admitted on Sunday that the GOP could take over the house. An admission that heretofore has not come from the administration.

The Senate
The senate picture is not quite as bleak as the house for democrats. The RCP senate map shows 49 democrat seats and 42 republican, with 9 tossups. If you didn't count toss ups and the election were held today, the dems would retain their majority 51 to 48 with one independent in Florida. Realistically, for  the GOP to gain control they would have to pick up that Florida seat with Marco Rubio, and two more of the three remaining possibilities...Washington, Wisconsin or California. It is very doable and the democrat margins are shrinking in those three states, but the GOP must also defend their leads in other toss up states. It is hard to imagine that the dems would lose Barbara Boxer's seat in California, especially since Obama enjoys still high approval ratings there. But, Boxer seems stuck in the forties, and Fiorina seems to be surging.

A Gallup's poll taken recently shows Obama's support among independents tanking...Only 38% of independents now approve of his job performance, down from a high of 56%. A recent Democracy Corps poll shows that 55% of likely voters find "socialist" an accurate label for describing Obama. In that same poll the republicans lead in the generic ballot 48% to 42%. It is not a friendly climate at all for democrats seeking reelection. That may well be why a recent Washington Post article says the democrats are digging harder than ever for dirt on republicans. I guess when you're losing on the issues the only possible tactic is opposition research and character assassination.

With the economy still anemic and the oil still flowing in the gulf, the administration has decided to launch a faux "recovery summer" tour... file an unpopular suit against Arizona to push an amnesty bill...Drop a voter intimidation case against the "New Black Panther Party"....enact a moratorium on all deep water drilling that will significantly impact the Gulf, and which the courts keep over turning....recess appoint an unpopular and toxic head of medicare and medicaid, and of course continue to blame Bush and the republicans for all the messes they are in. I have one word of advice for the republican party...When you see your opposition self destructing...get out of the way. We all know that the GOP is capable of blowing their chance by tripping over themselves to gain an advantage. Maybe their best strategy should be labeling themselves the lessor of two evils.

Pelosi's Truth

Nancy Pelosi has once again proved why she can be considered one of the greatest speakers of the house of representatives. Her latest rant that espouses unemployment  payments are the greatest stimulus to our economy, and is the fastest way to create jobs is as enlightening as her cosmetically altered face. All that skin tightening has  smoothed out her gray matter to the point of sensitivity and awareness. I was unaware that facial wrinkle reduction smoothed out brain tissue also. What a relief to know she's third in line to be president of the United States? The hits just keep on coming. We all remember her famous statement that, "the health care bill needed to be passed so we could find out what was in it." Brilliant! And then once it passed she gushed that now artist and all those beautiful people that give meaning to our drab lives could quite their day jobs because health care was now an entitlement. They could sit in their loft apartments and splatter paint, fondle clay, or just contemplate their navels for hours on end.

Come to think of it, maybe that is the definition of modern liberalism. Progressive thought insures the individual their true meaning in life. Wow what a concept. I like this. No need for responsibility or caring for your family. Job, what job? Who needs a job when there is meaning to be found? Keep those checks coming for another couple years, until they find themselves. After all they are stimulating the economy, that is of course unless they are stimulating themselves to internet porn. But why shouldn't they be payed for that? Remember government workers in the Securities and Exchange Commission were paid for surfing porn while Wall Street was running a muck. They also were trying to find themselves, and many of them did behind their office doors and cubicles. They just didn't understand they didn't have to have a job to do it. They could have stayed home and collected a check and found themselves. Maybe they'd find meaning for life from a soap opera or daytime game show. How about we take our welfare credit cards and visit a casino. That's all the rage in California.

Now that artists can stay home and find their destiny because of a health care entitlement and the unemployed will receive limitless checks because of their economic stimulation and welfare recipients can discover themselves from electronic slots, it's time Ms. Pelosi introduced a few new entitlements. How about we allow them all a credit for a Sunsetter retractable awning for summer time patio sitting, and big screen TVs for those cold winter afternoons. Maybe we should give them all high speed internet for you know what. If it's good enough for government workers why shouldn't stay at homes have it. I've got it. This would be perfect. Home delivery for medical marijuana! Ms. Pelosi's district is the obvious world capital for medical marijuana outlets. But why should someone who is busy stimulating the economy, among other things, and trying to find themselves be troubled with shopping their own cannabis.

I know what you're thinking. Who's going to pay for all this? That's an easy one. Those capitalists that don't care  because they're too busy greedily pursuing material wealth. They never stop. Hours and hours spent on what used to be the American dream. They're so busy that they don't know the dream has changed. It's no longer about financial independence and securing your family's future. It's about finding yourself. It's about doing what feels good. It's not about responsibility. It's about responding to someone elses ability. I know they're a shrinking minority, but that's OK. I'm sure they won't mind working a little harder and a little longer, because they really don't have a soul. The more we take from them, the harder they will work, because they're selfish and really only care about themselves. Some will even work two or three jobs to get their own businesses off the ground. Maybe that's what the speaker meant when she said unemployment compensation was the fastest way to create jobs.

Critical Mass Has Been Reached

Could it be that critical mass is being reached for this president? A president who came into office with more good will than any president in the our recent history. Could it be that the bloom is off the rose, and the worm has turned? The clear volume of unexpected and disastrous events just in the last few months has revealed many chinks in this presidents armor. The revelation that Mr. Obama is acquiring low marks on the leadership front, and doesn't seem to be able to adjust his rigid ideology to tackle immediate problems is taking it's toll on his presidency and the country. Many I've talked to who were open to his presidency have now revealed when the president's face appears on TV they immediately change the channel. The tongue in cheek riddle,  "how do you know when someone is lying?....you see his lips moving," has gripped many who now have forever turned against the messiah. It's almost impossible for a public figure to regain the trust of those with that level of repulsion. It happened to George Bush because of Iraq, and the media hysteria because of Katrina. Even though the surge was successful, and the federal government pumped billions of dollars into Louisiana  he still receives low marks for both.

Obama's response to the Gulf oil spill and the Arizona immigration law are revealing just how rigid his leftist agenda is. The revelation that he told Jon Kyl, {the Arizona senator,} that he wasn't inclined to enforce the border because he believes it would hinder the prospect of comprehensive reform  is extremely cynical, and reveals a president unwilling to carry out his oath of office except in pursuit of a political victory. His decision to place a moratorium on all deep water drilling, even though the obvious economic impact to the Gulf region will be immense says he doesn't really care about those in the Gulf, because they aren't his natural constituents. He'd rather capitulate to the environmental extremist who are. His slow response to the spill,  his continued indifference, and his "don't let a good crisis go to waste" approach, which he is using to try and pass an ill advised and economically disastrous cap and trade bill, isn't sitting well with the public.

He continues to tout the stimulus as saving us from certain ruin, while a vice president zips hither and yon claiming it's success while rebuking business owners that dare to challenge him. Most understand the stimulus was a complete debacle, and they have turned a tin ear to the administration prolonged exaggerated and deceptive, saved or created jobs numbers. His most recent rebuke by European leaders at the G8, G20 summit because of a continued spending binge is somewhat ironic, seeing the anointed one was only trying to emulate their decades old socialist models.  It appears his heels are dug in and he's going to do everything he can to bring this country to the brink of economic insolvency and social chaos to elevate the crisis and therefore elevate the governments need to intercede. When several well known and reputable commentators floated the theory that he's trying to break it so the government can move in to fix it, most were skeptical. The number of skeptics is decreasing precipitously.

There is one ray of hope. While this administration continues on the path to use crisis to obtain power, the American people are wising up. They are beginning to use the same principle for themselves. They see a crisis presidency, and because of that crisis presidency there is a great opportunity. An opportunity to mobilize the until now, sleeping patriots. Those conscientious Americans that believe in our founding principles, but have heretofore been too busy living them to get involved in the somewhat messy business of politics. Ironically, what this president has orchestrated to obtain power for himself and his cronies may ultimately backfire and bring power back to the people. As more Tea Party and patriot groups emerge with the fervor of  angry warriors, the likelihood of a more conservative ascendancy grows. A recent Gallop poll shows that conservatives now outnumber liberals by more then two to one. Should the congressional leadership and the executive branch be dominated by liberals when the country is the complete opposite?

Conservatives generally keep to themselves, live their lives and raise their families. Liberals, who are a distinct minority have always been motivated to change things around them and impose their values on others. That may be why leadership in Washington is decidedly liberal. But, this administration has stepped over the line with their big government, freedom killing agenda. It's akin to a bully on the playground that taunts those around them, and they are mostly ignored. That is until they start affecting the lives of their victims to the point where the victim starts to fight back. Conservatives have reached that point and they now understand that their way of life is under assault. This president may well become a success in one regard. He may usher in a conservative majority in congress for decades to come. America will never forget the dangers of electing extreme liberal leaders that threaten our freedoms. Conservatives need to take to heart the words of Rahm Emanuel, "never let a good crisis go to waste."
