An Extra-Ordinary Candidate.

I was invited last night to the house of Paul and Leanne Akers... If you've never heard of Paul Akers, he's a self made man with an extremely successful business that he started with his wife in their garage. He is running for the US senate in the state of Washington against the incumbent Patty Murray. He faces a tough primary challenge against Eastern Washington Farmer and ex football player Clint Didier, and the republican establishment candidate Dino Rossi. I first came to hear about Paul from his weekly radio program here locally called "The American Innovator." Paul's successful business started when he invented a small adhesive cap, called "Fast Cap" to apply over screw holes in cabinets. He was at that point a cabinet maker, master craftsman, builder of guitars, fine furniture, and homes. His company Fast Cap is an international product development company specializing in woodworking products. He also takes the ideas of others and helps them take their invention from the napkin to the store shelf. He is a proven leader that has actually created real jobs not imaginary ones.

I met Paul a week earlier at a Tea Party candidates forum and was impressed beyond belief. His no nonsense answers to audience questions showed his fiscal discipline and common sense conservatism this country is lacking. When my wife and I arrived early to the gathering at his house he met us in the yard and welcomed us into his home. As others arrived he gave us a short tour and history of his beautiful home and then invited all to walk around and explore the house themselves. As my wife and I were walking down one hall he came over to explain how the house was designed to allow natural light and as he passed by his bedroom he opened the door and said go ahead and walk in and look around as he walked away. My wife and I stared at each other with our jaws dropped and couldn't believe that this man whom we'd just met was opening his home in such a personal way. I joked with him later that an invitation like that might encourage some to open closets and look for skeletons. His response was I'm not perfect and I don't care, you can open my closets. How refreshing to find a man, not a politician, who is as unguarded and open as Paul Akers. He walked around the meet and greet interacting with everyone and answering their questions. I mentioned that my sons would love to see the house and he said bring them up anytime, someone is usually here.

My wife was skeptical that this may be a fund raising event, but during the discussion period he said you can give me  $10,000,  but you'd help me more by making an effort to tell two other people daily about my candidacy and encourage them to check me out. My wife was immediately sold, and understood this is not your typical politician. Paul Akers has become successful because he believes in the genius of the American people. The American people are what makes this country great, not the intrusion of a power hungry government. Sometimes people are so ordinary that their common sense solutions to problem solving make them extra-ordinary. Paul Akers is one such man. After spending ten minutes with him you feel like you've known him forever. He puts you at ease and you believe you can make a difference. Absent is the arrogant elitism we see in Washington today. Absent is the "I know best what's best for you" narrative that is rampant in the typical politician. Absent is the guarded and carefully chosen words that implies an effort to skirt both sides of an issue. I encourage all Washington residents to get involved with the Paul Akers campaign. I encourage all Americans nation wide if you can't give your time, send your money....Elect an Innovator, not a politician!..check out Paul Akers website..

Polls Show The Dems In Deep Do Do

The political climate for the democrat party continues to deteriorate at an alarming rate. They can all celebrate the certainty of  global warming, except that it is their seat in congress that is starting to blister their somewhat sorry back ends and not global temperatures. It's true the mercury has been rising over the past several weeks in D.C.  but the real rise is the scorching the democrats are taking in public opinion and reelection polls. We all remember how they insisted that once health care was passed and signed into law the public's perception would change. But, the most recent Rasmussen poll that came out on 7/11 showed that 53% still oppose Obama Care while only 42% approve. Shortly after passage of the bill the Rasmussen poll showed 54% opposed and 42% approved of Obama Care. Not much of a positive trend for the democrats.

A recent Gallop poll showed that by  50% to 33%,  Americans have a negative response to the federal government suing Arizona over their new immigration enforcement law. And a much larger percentage of Americans support the law and what Arizona is trying to do. This president continues to pursue this as a wedge issue to try and energize Hispanics and pro amnesty Americans to mitigate their losses in November. The strategy seems to be backfiring as more Americans understand this is a cynical attempt to hold border security hostage for an amnesty bill that most Americans reject. Democrat governors recently warned that the feds suit against Arizona is toxic, and could hurt democrats this fall. The DOJ's {department of Justice} decision to drop the New Black Panther voter intimidation case has had disastrous and immediate push back. Black  congressional candidate Allen West running in Florida's 22nd district is condemning Obama for exploiting race for political gain.

The house
The recent polls here don't look good for democrats. The RCP house map shows that if the election were held today that the democrats would win 200 seats and the republicans would win 200 seats and there are 35 toss up seats. There are 165 safe GOP seats and 150 safe democrat seats. There are 105 democrat seats up for grabs. Of that 105, 47 are likely or lean democrat, 34 are toss ups and 24 are likely or lean GOP. Now here is the terrible news for democrats. There are really only 15 GOP seats up for grabs, and of those 15, 11 are likely or lean GOP. Therefore there are only 4 possible pickups for democrats while there are 58 possible pickups for the republicans as of right now. The mood of the country is trending away from the democrats. Robert Gibbs, the presidents press secretary admitted on Sunday that the GOP could take over the house. An admission that heretofore has not come from the administration.

The Senate
The senate picture is not quite as bleak as the house for democrats. The RCP senate map shows 49 democrat seats and 42 republican, with 9 tossups. If you didn't count toss ups and the election were held today, the dems would retain their majority 51 to 48 with one independent in Florida. Realistically, for  the GOP to gain control they would have to pick up that Florida seat with Marco Rubio, and two more of the three remaining possibilities...Washington, Wisconsin or California. It is very doable and the democrat margins are shrinking in those three states, but the GOP must also defend their leads in other toss up states. It is hard to imagine that the dems would lose Barbara Boxer's seat in California, especially since Obama enjoys still high approval ratings there. But, Boxer seems stuck in the forties, and Fiorina seems to be surging.

A Gallup's poll taken recently shows Obama's support among independents tanking...Only 38% of independents now approve of his job performance, down from a high of 56%. A recent Democracy Corps poll shows that 55% of likely voters find "socialist" an accurate label for describing Obama. In that same poll the republicans lead in the generic ballot 48% to 42%. It is not a friendly climate at all for democrats seeking reelection. That may well be why a recent Washington Post article says the democrats are digging harder than ever for dirt on republicans. I guess when you're losing on the issues the only possible tactic is opposition research and character assassination.

With the economy still anemic and the oil still flowing in the gulf, the administration has decided to launch a faux "recovery summer" tour... file an unpopular suit against Arizona to push an amnesty bill...Drop a voter intimidation case against the "New Black Panther Party"....enact a moratorium on all deep water drilling that will significantly impact the Gulf, and which the courts keep over turning....recess appoint an unpopular and toxic head of medicare and medicaid, and of course continue to blame Bush and the republicans for all the messes they are in. I have one word of advice for the republican party...When you see your opposition self destructing...get out of the way. We all know that the GOP is capable of blowing their chance by tripping over themselves to gain an advantage. Maybe their best strategy should be labeling themselves the lessor of two evils.

Pelosi's Truth

Nancy Pelosi has once again proved why she can be considered one of the greatest speakers of the house of representatives. Her latest rant that espouses unemployment  payments are the greatest stimulus to our economy, and is the fastest way to create jobs is as enlightening as her cosmetically altered face. All that skin tightening has  smoothed out her gray matter to the point of sensitivity and awareness. I was unaware that facial wrinkle reduction smoothed out brain tissue also. What a relief to know she's third in line to be president of the United States? The hits just keep on coming. We all remember her famous statement that, "the health care bill needed to be passed so we could find out what was in it." Brilliant! And then once it passed she gushed that now artist and all those beautiful people that give meaning to our drab lives could quite their day jobs because health care was now an entitlement. They could sit in their loft apartments and splatter paint, fondle clay, or just contemplate their navels for hours on end.

Come to think of it, maybe that is the definition of modern liberalism. Progressive thought insures the individual their true meaning in life. Wow what a concept. I like this. No need for responsibility or caring for your family. Job, what job? Who needs a job when there is meaning to be found? Keep those checks coming for another couple years, until they find themselves. After all they are stimulating the economy, that is of course unless they are stimulating themselves to internet porn. But why shouldn't they be payed for that? Remember government workers in the Securities and Exchange Commission were paid for surfing porn while Wall Street was running a muck. They also were trying to find themselves, and many of them did behind their office doors and cubicles. They just didn't understand they didn't have to have a job to do it. They could have stayed home and collected a check and found themselves. Maybe they'd find meaning for life from a soap opera or daytime game show. How about we take our welfare credit cards and visit a casino. That's all the rage in California.

Now that artists can stay home and find their destiny because of a health care entitlement and the unemployed will receive limitless checks because of their economic stimulation and welfare recipients can discover themselves from electronic slots, it's time Ms. Pelosi introduced a few new entitlements. How about we allow them all a credit for a Sunsetter retractable awning for summer time patio sitting, and big screen TVs for those cold winter afternoons. Maybe we should give them all high speed internet for you know what. If it's good enough for government workers why shouldn't stay at homes have it. I've got it. This would be perfect. Home delivery for medical marijuana! Ms. Pelosi's district is the obvious world capital for medical marijuana outlets. But why should someone who is busy stimulating the economy, among other things, and trying to find themselves be troubled with shopping their own cannabis.

I know what you're thinking. Who's going to pay for all this? That's an easy one. Those capitalists that don't care  because they're too busy greedily pursuing material wealth. They never stop. Hours and hours spent on what used to be the American dream. They're so busy that they don't know the dream has changed. It's no longer about financial independence and securing your family's future. It's about finding yourself. It's about doing what feels good. It's not about responsibility. It's about responding to someone elses ability. I know they're a shrinking minority, but that's OK. I'm sure they won't mind working a little harder and a little longer, because they really don't have a soul. The more we take from them, the harder they will work, because they're selfish and really only care about themselves. Some will even work two or three jobs to get their own businesses off the ground. Maybe that's what the speaker meant when she said unemployment compensation was the fastest way to create jobs.
